Wimbledon Park currently officially opens from 8am Monday to Friday and 9am weekends.
Sometimes one of the key holders opens the gates earlier, but this is haphazard.
Many people have asked Friends of Wimbledon Park if the gates could be open from 7am every day. – to help encourage healthy and environmentally friendly travel by foot and bicycle and to allow people time to exercise, walk their dogs etc. before going to work/school.
There have been emails sent to Merton council a number of times, but no agreement so far. This petition started by Friends of Wimbledon Park will help quantify the justification for the request.
