Formed in 2012, the Friends of Wimbledon Park is a  Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO): Charity Number 1211838 with the aim of preserving, protecting and improving our heritage Wimbledon Park. 

We have a long-term vision to protect the green open space and important wildlife habitats while also striking a healthy balance between the needs of the many different park users, including families, sportspeople, dog walkers, anglers, and others visiting Wimbledon Park.

Our recent work includes:

• Planting, weeding and maintenance of hedges, flowerbeds throughout the park. We’ve planted over 3000 trees since 2012!
• Conservation of Horse Close Wood, the ancient oak tree, the lake, and other sensitive areas throughout the park
• Creation and maintenance of a new flower bed beside the car park
• Monthly park tours highlighting the biodiversity and history of the park
• Regular litter picking sessions
• Spearheading renovation of the Waterfall garden area
• Advocate for the interests of all park users when collaborating with Merton Council, idverde, AELTC and other area stakeholders

In future we plan to raise funds for a number of improvements to the park, including the “Revelstoke Road Gateway Project” – upgrading the appearance and safety of the entrance.

By supporting our work you can help protect Wimbledon Park for future generations.

Your support is invaluable in showing those who make decisions about the park, as well as potential investors and funders, that local people care deeply about Wimbledon Park’s future.

Your membership fees also help to pay for our overheads, such as website and insurance, in addition to funding projects to help improve the park. Nobody in FOWP is paid – we are all volunteers.

For a small annual membership fee (as little as £10 for adults / families or from £70 for companies – see “corporate membership” below) you can become more involved in FOWP’s activities. You will receive regular email updates and minutes of our executive committee meetings, and can attend our AGM (annual general meeting), where you will also have a vote.

It is quite straightforward and has already been used by many of our members, but if you have any problems, please just let us know by emailing and we will be able to help.

You will be asked to pay by Direct Debit by entering your bank account details. These will go to a secure payment provider “GoCardLess”. You will be able to cancel this Direct Debit mandate at any time in the future, by contacting your bank or by contacting FOWP to do this for you. (See the “Direct Debit Guarantee” scheme).

Your FOWP membership will then be automatically renewed each year, saving both you and FOWP time and effort.

When you join FOWP  as an adult/ family using WebCollect,  you will be asked to complete a GiftAid declaration. If you are not a UK taxpayer, then please just select “No”,

A number of other local organisations already use WebCollect, including The Wimbledon Society and Friends of Wimbledon Park. If you are a member of one or more of these, you will already have a WebCollect account, so you can just choose to add FOWP membership to your existing account. Otherwise you can create a new WebCollect account and join FOWP at the same time.

Please note that you do NOT need to provide phone number and date of birth. These are optional fields in WebCollect and we have asked for them to be removed from the membership joining web page, as FOWP do not require this personal data.
